Government targets 250,000 new homes per annum
[10 January 2008]
The UK Government wants to encourage the construction of 250,000 new homes per annum to stabilise house prices. This is some 100,000 more homes per annum than are currently built. With over 60% of these homes needing to be built on brownfield land (i.e. previously developed land), it is inevitable that housing densities will need to increase substantially from what they are today. This represents great news for Land Finders, as the demand for suitable Land will be higher than ever, and the focus will be on sustainable development. This means new houses will mainly need to be provided in and around existing towns/cities, to ensure transport links, schools (etc..) are easily available.
